Born’s aesthetic exhibits both a timeless and contemporary dimension, finding echoes in ancient Cycladic forms and modernist sculpture. The philosophy behind Humble Matter, and Born’s practice in particular, centers on the notion that ceramics “not only serve as functional pieces but as talismans that ground us in the magic of everyday rituals in an increasingly dehumanized and digitized world.”[1] Humble in spirit, yet eye-catching in their graceful style, Born’s ceramics renew a sense of intimacy with everyday sculptural objects made for the home.
